Oh right, i didn't know that he had that, and again i don't know if you could describe it as BDD either. In fact in coming on here to try and help i'm actually ending up questioning myself more and more.

By the way MM420 crooked noses can be attractive i've certainly been attracted to girls with noses that are aren't in a straight line i think it adds character. The only problem is like you i can accept other peoples but not my own. Frickin hate BDD
The worst thing about BDD is, that after 25 years on this planet, i still have no idea who i am. Is it wrong to believe you are cursed?

Questioning yourself as in if you have BDD or not???

and ya...I know what you mean!! I definitely think some guys with crooked noses are attractive. why can't we just accept ourselves? I think one main reason for me is that if im mad or sad about anything I take it out on myself and I've always done this. so when im sad or mad i tell myself it's cuz im ugly and worthless and it's so easy to believe!!

Nah i know i have BDD, i mean questioning my usefulness on this forum. :(

I think people like us are naturally very self critical and if anything goes wrong for us it's natural that we take it out on ourselves. Most of the time for us it's on our physique.

Thanks guys, i'm probably burned out from trying to understand BDD too much. I'm not clever enough to handle it head on, that's why it's good to have you lot aswell, fresh perspective and new ideas.

Nah MM420 i'm actually fine thanks, how have you been? Seems like ages since i've seen you on here, i was worried you'd quit or something. I've not seen MJ for a while either. I hope she's doing a lot better, i heard she was last time she was on here.

I totally agree with OP. Unless your face fits within the golden proportions:

Then you can't have BDD. If you are conscious about something that does not fit in the perfect proportions, you are just imperfect and it is normal to be conscious about it and seek ways to fix it.

If you look at models, top actors they will fit these masks well.

The only way to "cure BDD" is to fix the problematic area if it is indeed objectively unattractive.

Imagine telling this guy he has BDD if he would be complaining about his body image:

Now, if Billy Idol complained that his face is unnatractive or something, we could have a BDD case.

I agree with most of what you said. A person's face doesn't have to fit the golden ratio mask exactly to be beautiful, but rather, it must fit the mask fairly well. People who have large deviations from the mask are typically considered ugly and should NOT be diagnosed with BDD.

Surgery is the proper treatment for ugliness. It actually addresses the problem instead of the symptoms. For instance, look at this girl. Is she not better off because she got surgery instead of undergoing BDD treatment? I'm sure any BDD symptoms she once had are gone now that she's attractive.
