I have been on Abilify for 2 days, I am switching from Risperidone to it. I was really restless lastnight and didn't get to sleep until 4am. I also had anxiety and did a bit of muscle relaxation techniques that helped a lot. But I am so hoping this will pass. Fingers are crossed tonight. I hope our restlessness goes away soon!

It worked pretty quickly in the order of about a week for me - perhaps even less tho I had some other med changes at the same time.
How are you?
Huge hugs

That feeling of restlessness was the reason why I had to stop abilify. I constantly felt like I couldn't stop moving. It was this muscle spam-y, twitching...I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but for me it was just awful. I would monitor it and see if it goes away, if not I would call your doctor.

Speaking of restlessness one thing I do find on it is I have a sort of mental restlessness - like I cant focus on one thing for too long - it has impacted my attention span. It is difficult to explain but I have a friend who also noticed this on it

Abilify made me really restless as well. My psych said the dose was probably too high and to retry it on a lesser one but I refused, I just thought it didn't work well for me and went back to seroquel because even though I knew the seroquel was going to make me gain more weight it was better than that awful restlessness with Abilify.
The beauty of suffering is our ability to survive it.

Thanks.
I have been on the abilify 5 days now and the side effects are wearing off. Just a tiny bit restless now.
It has help with my anxiety but not with my psychosis. I may need a higher dose.
I will be seeing the doctor in ward round next week.

That's great news about the restlessness, but hopefully it deals to the psychosis soon. I've been on it for almost a week and I can sleep and not restless at all now. Yay!
xo good luck!
