Fluttery heart and mania

Postby Bettyboop » Mon Sep 24, 2012 9:45 pm

Anyone get this?

Feel like I have taken some hard core drug. I'm hightower life but my heart keeps doing a little flitter then it beats really hard. Even at rest it does this.

Maybe I took drugs and didn't realise.

You're not alone: I've gotten that same weird flutter and then pounding heartbeat feeling, as well. It is uncomfortable, but I haven't been able to figure out a cause. Just posting to provide some solidarity!

I also was not on any drugs besides Lithium and Ambien when it happened to me. Perhaps it has something to do with caffeine?

I get a weird feeling in my heart sometimes, though it's more like a skipped beat.

When I was supposedly mixed, my resting heart rate went up to 140 and for three days it felt like I had an elephant standing on my chest.

Hi there,

I Experienced this in the past at times. I guess what's cool is that you know you get this when your high and i know it's nice to know where we are at.

I get a tingling sensation in my forehead that is hard to explain its like the opposite of a headache... The bonus is that if I get this I know to reduce my mood which for me is sleep, unhealthy foods or like reverse cbt, but hell - whatever works right.

If it is worrying you though I would check it out. I think ECGs are used to check on heart rates and some meds are linked to issues with heart rate.

All the best

Keep calm and carry on

yes..I get this during hypomanic episodes. My heart beats out of my chest so fast. I can be laying flat on the couch and it feels like i just finished running full speed on a tredmill. The very first time this happend I thought I had been drugged. Now its the norm. Dont worry, and I hope this helps.

This happens to me as well, but I also might have a heart arrhythmia of some kind. They're called palpitations; mine can be triggered the same way my bipolar can be (not getting enough sleep, not eating well, not exercising, etc.), so I guess they probably line up most of the time. I've also had them due to social anxiety while I'm in "remission" from bipolar, though.
