Advice Please

Postby pjfog » Mon Sep 24, 2012 2:25 pm

Hi,

I have had success months ago with a combination of effexor and epilim and i felt back to myself with no problems at all. This combo has worked well in the past for me.The problem is i stopped taking meds a few months ago as i thought i was fine.A few weeks ago i fell into depression again. My psych doc said take effexor 37.5 and when i notice improvement in mood to start on epilim again.I think i started epilim to soon and so he said to stop it.He has since gone away for two weeks.I was not improving so i attended my doc who increased effexor to 75.I initially felt better for a day or two but am now not feeling any benefit. My main question is should i start taking the epilim now?Its a low dosage 200mg to start, have i anything really to lose. The combo worked before eventually after epilim was increased. My current state is depressed to the stage where i cant work.I dont experience mania and am geting a few hours of normality in the evenings.

Thank in advance
Pj

Unfortunately that's medical advice that none of us here are qualified to give. I would recommend waiting and talking to your doctor. Or perhaps you could call your PCP since your regular psych doctor is away?

Hello. I am new here. I have something I would like to add.

I have stopped meds myself in the past, and it never ends up being a good decision. So I understand what you are going through. However, I think it is best to take meds as prescribed by your doctor. Make sure to communicate with him/her openly. If there ever comes a time to stop meds, the doctor should be the one to make that call.

I really hope things improve for you soon. I believe they will. Just give it some time.
