My girlfriend was diagnosed with bipolar disorder a few years ago. Since a symptom of a mania episode is lack of inhibitions and hypersexuality, are people with the disorder more likely to cheat?

They can be, but it depends a lot on the individual person and how strict a moral code they have. It also depends on the intensity of the episode, I think. From what I have read, it's kind of like the lowering of inhibitions that can happen if you drink too much or use drugs....if you are inclined that way or happen to get into a situation where it is convienient, you might make a stupid impulsive decision. The best thing to do is for her to be sure to stay on her meds and monitor herself closely so she can hopefully keep from having a full-blown manic episode.

I agree... it depends on the strong morals of the individual. For myself I am happily married, and have very strong morals concerning topics such as that. Basically, and my hubby would agree, in that he benefits from that area LOL I don't care how strong the episode I have... my thoughts on the issue are much stronger.
Just my two cents

The trick is, when you can spot her manic episodes, is to hide away with her and have a 'dirty' weekend
Drop what you are doing and go on a crazy ride with her.
