plea to christians spreading the "faith"

Postby sincefour » Sun Dec 25, 2005 3:14 pm

this is a serious documented medical issue.

please consider preaching your blindness to those that want it. obviously this does not include Christians that let others live in peace.

You self centered and lost souls - is there a cure for that? Yes there is, its called the Enlightenment. That's what the founders of this country believed in, go read up on it.

hey ya know, there's no need to be so defensive. everybody's juz trying to help, though many may not succeed. i'm a christian, and i'm bipolar, i know how some christians seem to undermine my medical condition, but i dun care. i still take medication, though i'm weaning off, and for me i know that was because God's been healing me. i've been thru all sorts of medication, even ECT. i'm still struggling, but my faith is my source of strength. wat i'm trying to say is, some people are juz trying to be honest with wats real to them, though others may not understand.

If your faith is able to cure your condition that is great. Really.

OTOH when you post URL's like the other day, you should notify people that it has a Christian bias. Some people are tremendously triggered by that.

But when (and yes not just on this topic, but others on PF) Christian absolutists make claims such as various DSM-IV defined things do not exist, and there is no scientific basis for such and so, then having people like that hanging out here, is about as reasonable as me going to to some TV evanglists site and start talking Darwin, Wiccan, or whatever.

You should feel completely safe to do what you want, until you interfere with me doing what I want. At that point your ideas and thoughts are no longer wanted.

Regards,
W

is there a particular thread you are posting all of this in regards too? Your thread is a new topic....so I'm not sure where to start looking...but obviously you are upset. You can always take it up w/ our site administrator. Course....really....I think freedom of speach to some degree is ok....in some cases...why is it so hard to simply read...disagree...and move on?

some clarifications

Postby sonya » Thu Dec 29, 2005 10:42 am

this is to sincefour...

i think i have to make some clarifications that, i was posting a link to my own blog, which is free for me to write my own feelings, not meant to use as a place for preaching. if u read carefully wat i wrote, i was just being blatantly honest about certain things, and i am pretty certain that i have been sensitive to people from all backgrounds. and i have placed a heading on the link, that it is "my take on bipolar", not meant to be "THE take on bipolar", if u get wat i mean. thank u.

sonya,

thank you, it is your take, and as such that is fine, and not triggering.

I am however very disturbed by anyone/thing that purports to have "the" solution, and dismisses other points of view.

I am not saying that is you, or your intent, just that the murkiness of your presentation, and your smiley face response on another thread when I pointed the URL out as pro Christian, made it possible for me at least to see your motives as potentially sinister.

Thank you for clearing things up.

I will be back later to discuss my take on bipolar in another thread. Having suffered from it for 34 years, and having experience with drugs (both prescribed and other), religion, faith, T, etc. - along with some comorbid complications, I have quite a bit to report from the front lines.
