So what is a fella to do live like a child.........or jump on his motorcycle and ride 160mph through the desert? Let me know when you figure it out....

Funny you mention motorcycles. I immediately thought of my love of fast motorcycles when I read this post. In one of my manic episodes, I went down a busy highway in a major city on the back of a motorcycle going 150 miles an hour. It was exhilarating, but not wise, considering I wasn't wearing a helmet. I love speed and wind. When I had money to blow, I would impulsively take a trip somewhere and drive for days without sleep in order to get to my destination. The whole time I would be taking lots of photos, even sticking my camera out the car window while driving in order to take pictures of the mountains and landscapes.
Does any one real know what goes on in the chemistry of our brains?

I guess i'm going to have to deal with this restless feeling for awhile. It feels like death. In the past, i simply would inhale narcotics to get over this feeling. I can't do that any longer without dire consequences. I really do feel like a chid....a lobotomized child. BBE

Huge BBE - I am sorry you are not feeling good. So well done on not using the narcotics. Can you talk to your team about what is going on? I really hope you feel better soon

I've done a ton of drastic things and most of them involve running. I ran away from home to try and live in NYC when I was a teenager. That failed. Then I ran away from home and moved to Canada with a woman I eloped with. That turned out ok but after 6 years it was time to move on. I then ended up in the midwestern US, met some woman on a Greyhound and lived with her for about half a year. So, yea I am prone to doing drastic things, drives my psychiatrist nuts. I live for adventure though.

BBE,

Sorry you rocking through the hard times. Like I said in the previous post I understand fully it's just not easy. I used to handle it with some coke or meth or heavy drinking. Loved taking lsd for a long while that wasn't really great with the bipolar thing. Then I filled the gap with dangerous adrenaline junky stuff fast motorcycles climbing(I live in Yosemite National Park) base jumping the whole bit. Now that I'm actively seeking treatment and the more control I get via meds and therapy the more board I feel as if a portion of me has been lost for ever.......I guess I miss that guy but he's the one that's going to get me killed. I have found to satisfy the feeling it's important to take on new challenges. They don't have to be big or wild or crazy just new. Right now I took up yoyoing it's simple I can take it with me everywhere and when I get restless I play for a few minutes and feel better. It seems silly but try it out tutorials on youtube. Something of that nature where you can just pick it up when ever you have that feeling really helps.

Thankyou you guys for all the love. It dawned on me this morning that everything i have of real value today is because i've become med-compliant and i've remained sober. This was next to impossible without the meds. Hope you all are doing well and huge hugs to all. BBE

Definitely get cravings to do drastic things. I think it can be healthy, as long as it's not hurting you or anyone else right?

Skydiving is something I definitely want to try!

Sounds boring next to skydiving, but I go kayaking. On the saltwater flats, in rivers or lakes - you get away from it all, find some peace and quiet, get some exercise. And I always like the "outdoor tired" you feel afterward (kind of like when you've been at the beach all day) Keeps me from doing something really drastic like quiting my job and joining a commune :)

when i feel like drastic i usually get a strange pet, like a chinchilla.. or an abused cockateil.

or i hop in my car and drive far far away, until i run out of gas and then et nervous about being someplace that's not my apt. sadly, i always come back. if i had a passport.. id probably be in italy by now.
