What is your myers-briggs type?

Postby Nine » Wed Apr 11, 2012 1:31 pm

I'm wondering what everyone's Myers-Briggs types are.

According to wikipedia Myers-Briggs is the most used personality test. All types are supposedly equal. If you don't know yours there is a super quick quiz here. http://www.personalitypathways.com/type_inventory.html

I found this the other day, and it piqued my curiosity of what I always wondered, if there were some similarities in personality type between people who have bipolar. In my opinion my type (ENTP) totally makes sense. In fact some descriptions of the type even sound a little hypomanic ...

Using Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) continuum scores, bipolar patients were significantly more Extroverted, iNtuitive and Perceiving, and less Introverted, Sensing, and Judging than were unipolar patients.

(Focus on the letters and ignore the actual words; they stand for a set of characteristics & don't describe what they are well.)

I got my information from this site http://www.chaada.org/Bipolar.html and its radical message makes me want to take everything with a grain of salt. However do site legitimate sources.

Okay everyone ... so what are your types? Do they make sense considering your diagnosis(es)?

I am currently INFP, but I can't help thinking that results could vary a little depending on mood.

I am INTJ. I remember that's what I got years ago when in my first psych class in high school. I think that's my base line personality. I agree with In Limbo that it would change dramatically if I was in a hypomanic episode. I looked at the descriptions, & I would most likely change my answers if I was in a hypomanic episode & thought of that state as my personality.

I had a girl break up with me a few years back because our Myers-Briggs types were somewhat opposing. I'd taken the test as part of a work requirement and didn't think too much of it (since I'm almost positive I took it during one of my hypomanic states and I believe it to be a bit skewed). One night, her and I spoke about the fact that we both had to take the test for work and after a lot of persuading, I shared my type with her. She immediately expressed how uncomfortable she was with us as a match and within a week, it was over.

And people complain that politics in the elephant in the room for a relationship :)

TweekedOut - Woah, that is really strange. You're probably better off without someone like that. Would she had broken it off if your zodiac signs were opposing, too?

I'm ENTP as well. Depending on how I feel, some characteristics of this can be greatly magnified.

I think I know what you mean. For instance I am overwhelmingly more extroverted when I am manic or hypomanic. Same goes for "intuitive" (I think the word is stupid). Because I see all types of crazy imaginative connections.
