It's finally working

Postby MrNobody45 » Fri Mar 23, 2012 12:44 pm

I was stunned on Wednesday, had been high most of the day. Then I got on the bus home something just clicked inside my head.

It finally worked, I feel normal. Not normal as in Hyper, just normal. It's like somebody switched on the lights in my head and showed me all the things that were going wrong.

Now the medicine is working I just need time to heal. Physical wounds heal more easily, mental wounds may never fully heal but thats ok.

It's odd, I remember the way I have been and it's like I have been living the life of three people.

My mood has to all intents and purposes stabilised.

Lithium has a bad reputation but it's working for me. I'm not feeling too high or low, just happy to be me again finally.

This is great news I'm so happy for you.

Lithium does have a bad reputation because of its side effects but as a mood stabiliser for bipolar it has a good reputation. It is a good medicine and when it works it works very well.

All the best

So glad to hear that you're feeling better & normal. It's a great feeling, isn't it? We tend to assume that only hypomania can make us happy - but I found that I enjoy stability even more. Sometimes when I'm bored I wish I was hypomanic again, but as long as I avoid boredom, I feel content in my mood.

& Yes, Lithium does have a rather bad reputation. My psychology textbook literally tore it to shreds. But honestly, there is a reason that it's still widely used despite the side effects & such - it's because it tends to work.

Hugs.

That is exactly it! Normal conversations, normal social interaction, being able to read a book (Finally finished the hunger games this past few days so now I gotta see the movie.

More than that though, I''m giving myself about a month to heal the wounds (I figure anything after that is too deep) Then I'm gonna get myself back to work.

The huge difference being thatt his isn't me being I'm awesome therefore all is great. No, instead it's more I can go back and teach and enjoy it for what it is.

Yeah so my right hand shakles quite a bit, I drink gallons of fluid and need to go wee lots and need blood tests(Lots and lots if you include all the bloods for my heamachromatosis). Thats ok, I can live with that.

In a lot of way that last message from the last member of my family may well have been the catalyst.

By Wednesday when the "Click" happened I was like "Ah well, I got a better family in trade anyway (CRACKED thanks for the orphan advice) I'm adopted, I'm no orphan.

I look at my forearms and I'm like why the hell would I do that???

This is me, My name is Ian, I''m a husband to a beautiful wife, a father to an awesome son and I'm a teacher who just happens to have BiPolar disorder.

Nice to finally meet you.

My advice is just to take everything slow. Ease back into this. Be aware that lapses can happen, be prepared for them, but don't assume that they will happen.

& Also, I just finished The Hunger Games as well, yesterday. It was good book, wasn't it? I can't wait to see the movie.
