Has/does BP effected your personality?

Postby Phonic » Sat Feb 25, 2012 5:44 am

Just a thought, given my personality changes post first manic episode.

Does constant low level mood flucuation issues (like mine) effect your personality? Can a full blown manic or depressive episode have a permanent effect on your person?

If so, man that explain a bit.

I'm on a hunt for clarity here is all, would appreciate some help from fellows who understand those grim lows and dizzying highs, cheers!

I kinda like to think that both the highs and lows are just exagerated parts of my personality. Yes they are extreme but they are parts of me.

I may not like them but they are me. I find accepting that has helped me deal a little better with my condition (By no means does it help me all the time though)

Well! On the ward I'm known as the "crazy girl". They tell me I have one speaking voice - loud. They tell me I'm provocative and promiscuous. They tell me everything I do is inappropriate. They laugh when I go ott. They just can't see me when I'm down.

I think the bi-polar only really effects my personality when i'm hypo-manic around payday, i become really flaky, i never call anyone back or follow up on promises because i forget that i make them 30 seconds after i do it. it causes issues with people who don't know me very well. i'm pretty much always a negative nancy at all other times, but a consistent one.

yeah, i don't think my personality changes during my mood swings, it's just exaggerated parts of my personality.

except when i become psychotic, then my personality will change because i get kind of frightened and lost in my own world.
