I have Bipolar Disorder and I'm not sure if anyone with this condition has experienced it or not (or have heard of) but from time to time when I get a little manic-like I start wanting to talk in what seems to be foreign languages.
This is very strange and I was wondering if anyone else has any info or personal testimony regarding this.
This would mean a lot to me... thanks!

I get this a lot when I'm manic or hypomanic and I find myself doing it in spite of myself even if I shouldn't when it's not a good idea. Often I will speak either Spanish or French, or alternate between both, or combine them both into one fluid language that only people who know both languages would possibly be able to understand. Sometimes I speak other languages besides those two and shift between all of them rapidly when I'm talking fast and overexcited while manic. I'm not sure why I have a tendency to abandon English when I'm like this but it's a problem because when I get hypomanic I even do it here which is against the rules and it could get me banned. It's just something that comes out that seems I'm not fully in control of. It's like when manic my words and usages of various languages just gushes out almost without my consent and it shuts down communication with people who don't know the languages (which is sometimes my intention) or it confuses them. A lot of things I do when manic I am not in control of and the way I speak and words I use is included in the manic loss of control.

Audacisist,
Being in a hypomanic or manic state when you are speaking other languages will only get you a reminder to write in English. Purposely writing in other languages other than English is another thing, that can bring you a warning.

Yeah I remember during my last hypomanic episode I got a warning about it. It seems like my hypomania just suddenly switched on today this afternoon and I can tell I'm in the early stages of it.

Doing it all the time. English is not my native language but I will start talking to myself in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French or Italian. Whatever just suits me. Let German aside, don't Need it anymore. I will also start writing in These languages and mainly talk to myself a lot.
