trileptal - zoloft - trazodone

Postby abyss » Mon Aug 15, 2005 9:28 pm

I was just taken off depakote today because it doesn't seem to be doing anything for me except giving me a headache.

I was prescribed trileptal, zoloft, and trazodone. Has anyone taken any of these, and what side effects did you have, if any? I have done a little research, but I get contradicting information, so I was looking for real-life experiences. TIA.

I am going to answer my own post because maybe someone else will have the same question one day.

I have been on these meds for a few days and I feel freaking awesome. I have never felt so wonderful and hyper and great in all of my life. I feel tingly and happy and wonderful. The only semi-bad thing I have experienced thus far is that I forget stuff like words sometimes, but who needs those anyway?

Hi,

Didn't like Depakote at all. Gave me jetlag. :?

I've been on Zoloft for many, many years. At first, I was ready to dance on tables. In reality, it was the first time I had ever felt 'normal'. A brand new world for me to play in! :) An 'awakening'. It's no wonder we get excited!

In time, the 'high' gently subsided, but still felt 'normal'. Able to be happy, without listing all the prior unhappy symptoms that were no longer present.

Eventually, needed something more to mainly help me get to sleep, and maybe curb racing thoughts/pressured speach and the like. Been on Trazodone for several years now. Guess it works as a sleeper/stabilizer for me.

Don't recall any side effects, and definately not lke the older drugs.

I think in time, things will settle down more for you.

Best wishes, on your new meds,

I'm highly senstive to meds and zoloft induced a manic episode in me even at a MINUTE dose (12.5 mg/day). Yeah, it felt great at first - I became a social butterfly with tons of energy, but after three days of no sleep and increasing anger, irritability and aggressive feelings I knew it wasn't for me. It sounds like some people just experience the positive effects of zoloft. Well, I'm an ultradian cycler, so I've heard we are more sensitive to meds and generally more difficult to treat. Anyone else out there?
