We get used to the scars after a few years. I've got 15-16 on each arm and I don't even care anymore-- it's been 8 years. However, there are times when covering them up is necessary, so make-up is the option if you're going sleveless (the bracelet idea is also good, I have a ton of them, the kind that expand and retract so if the scar is higher up on your arm you can push the bracelet up to where the scar is and it will stay there). Something I did that worked: call your nearest department store and find out if they have a MAC counter in their cosmetic section, or simply find out if there is a MAC store in your city. Call them up and tell them you're looking for a private appointment with someone to teach you how to cover scars. These people do this, and in my experience they are extremely friendly and helpful. If they are white (so old), its pretty easy, it's just a matter of finding your exact skin color. The product they use is the same kind you use for under-eye circles, so something that's more textured and opaque than plain foundation. If they are recent, and thus reddish, its 2 steps. You'll need a green to cancel out the red, then the exact skin tone cover-up to go over that. On top of all that you'll need a light transluscent powder to "fix" the make-up on (it makes it last longer). You also need tools (fingers don't do a good job at this) so you'll need a brush or two to cover up the exact line and not have make-up all over the place). There is another company that apparantly specializes in scar cover-up products (the name evades me, but it something like derma----). Don't even bother with that company. I spent over a 100$ on products there that I was completely disatisfied with. MAC is the way to go (and no I don't work there). Plus no animal testing, plus they contribute funds to AIDS research, plus they recycle. In terms of money: the skin-tone cover up is around 20, the green product (if you need it) is also around 20, translucent powder can be bought at your local drugstore for less then 10, same with brushes.
My 2 cents. Hope this helps.
