Has anybody ever done Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy before? If so how was your experience with it?
Just to clarify was it is (well this is how I understand it). It's the stimulating of the hippocampus my means of eye movements or other types of bilateral stimulation. It is primarily to help bring out emotions linked to trauma.
My psychologist and I have been doing it for weeks now, and I find it worked surprisingly and scarily well for me.

I never even heard of it. I'd like to know more about it. Especially, I'd like to know if it's the kind of thing that is combined with cognitive behavioral therapy--catching the bad thoughts as they form and counteracting them with good ones.

Well, now I know what cognitive behavioural therapy is. I do suspect it can help with that, as it may help you to identify emotions. Again, I'm not an expert on it, so I'm sorta guessing.

I have had it suggested to me for PTSD and know someone who is a practitioner of it and her results sound impressive, tho I have never tried it myself.
