Hypomania

Postby asusr6 » Wed Nov 30, 2005 7:06 am

I don't know why its happened but I'm going through a hypomania phase right now. Grouchy as an old bear and not sleeping all. Up and moving around all the time.

Guess I haven't cycled for so long I almost forgot what it was like.

I don't think its severe enough for any concern at this point unless I go too long with out restful sleep.

resp. to asusr6

Postby drdad56 » Sat Dec 17, 2005 2:56 pm

hi asusr6,
i'm new to this sight and your posts sounded so much like me. i had problems for years before i new what was wrong. i was finally diagnosed bp2 also. i did the meds thing for 5 years and i went through the same thing. they would work for awhile then stop. the big side affect for was wieght gain, dizziness and nausia.
in jan. of 05 i decided after i lost a great job that i had had enough and dropped all my meds. it was tough for awhile but i stopped being sick all the time and the wieght came off pretty fast for awhile. i decided to keep working at it and i've lost 57 pds so far this year. i feel great that way but the ups and downs can be difficult. right now i'm manic or at least what's manic for me. it can be alot of fun but i tend to do risky things that scare me sometimes.
i don't ever want to go back on meds but i know too that if i breakdown again like 5 years ago i may not have a choice. i see
a therapist 1 or 2 times a month and he has helped alot but he is retiring in jan. and i will have to start over with a new one. that happens to much and it screws me up for awhile. i know you may never read this but thanks for letting me say a few things. i hope you and your wife are well.

Lost my job

Postby asusr6 » Sat Dec 17, 2005 3:53 pm

On 12/7/05 I was informed that I no longer have a job due to "corporate downsizing". I was a supervisor for the past 20 years. My insurance runs out at the end of the month. Luckly where my wife works they just began offering health insurance to their employees. It's a pretty good plan. At least we will still have prescription drug coverage.

The worst part of losing my job is not knowing what to do with myself. I've been applying for supervisor jobs on the internet and locally but so far only one that wants to interview me. Its in Kansas and thats 900 miles from where I live in Ohio.

If I dont get a job soon I'm going to lose my house and all my "toys" but that in itself doesnt really matter to me(dont really want to lose the home we just built 3 years ago). If I lose it all we'll just start all over again I guess.

The best part is that we will have the prescrition drug coverage. Our drugs cost approx 800/month in the real world but with the plan it only costs us $150 every 3 month. So Im thankful for that at least.

Wife lost her job also- we have no health insurance now

Postby asusr6 » Fri Mar 03, 2006 1:40 pm

My wife lost her job one week after my last post. So we ended up with no insurance and only our savings to live on.

We have applied to all the patient assistance programs to get our prescriptions for free. Its now been almost two months and we have not seen any drugs or even gotten a letter. I've been told it takes two-three months to get them. Its a good thing we had our 90 day supply filled right before I lost my job.

After being corporate downsized, I have now found a great job and they have good health insurance. I start my new job next week. I have been off work now for three months. It will be good to get back to work.

I've done very well mentally during this trial. The drugs (Lamictal and Lorazapam) are working great for me. I no longer take the Risperdal because I want to save my prescription for my wife in case we run out. I have felt no ill effects since quiting the Risperdal.
