Combined Meds

Postby KenSurvivorofHell » Fri Apr 24, 2020 4:11 pm

Hi everyone I'm new to the Bipolar subforum.

I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and placed on 8 mg Risperidone and Depakote. Is anyone on this specific combination? How are the side effects? Does this combination suit you?

It seems to be working relatively well for me expect the risperidone causes some low mood or drowsiness. Like I don't like doing as much as I would usually want to do. It's nowhere as bad as Invega though.

I take it you used to take Invega? I honestly don't have any experience with those meds, but my fellow mod, Tyer does, I believe. Tyler, have you used any of these meds?

By the way, it's kinda, actually, it's very quiet on this forum, so please bear with us.

And also, too, a warm welcome from me, KenSurvivorofHell! I like your username. :D

Much appreciated. It's from a manga I used to watch as a kid. Thought it would be interesting to use it as a username since I've been through literal hell.

Yes, I was placed on Invega which was a very bad experience. What are you on though?

I'm on Vraylar (cariprazine), bupropion, lamotrigine, and diazepam (as needed).

Hi there. I'm currently tapering off of Risperdal and I used to be on Depakote. Depakote helped a lot with my manias, but it made me depressed if I took too much too long. Risperdal helped me get out of a psychotic episode, but it pooped out on me after a while and started causing insomnia and akathisia, so now I'm on Zyprexa.

Thanks for replying. I do get the same effect from Depakote. Things just don't feel as enjoyable since they doubled my dose. I'm surprised you mention Akathisia. I would associate that more with Abilify and Latuda. Abilify is simply the worst drug ever right after Invega.
