Counteracting meds that you have to take

Postby winandperf » Mon Jun 10, 2019 10:02 pm

If you have to take meds for bipolar, sometimes they make you feel drowsy and anxious and what not. Are there any counteracting meds that neutralize the effect of say depakote or resperidol? I took a zantac to see if that would reduce the side effects of depakote because depakote is an acid. But it didn't really seem to do anything.

I take propanolol because I get tremors and akathisia from some med I'm taking. Talk to your pdoc and he might be able to help you.

Wow, propanolol, isn't that a really strong drug? I think I'll just try taking a zantac every now and then or maybe a fish oil.

It's not that strong at all. The only effects I get is being less tremory and no more akathisia. No side effects :)

I've been taking depakote for about 6 months now. You should have blood work done to check your levels and your liver enzymes because it can trash your liver if you're on too high of a dose for too long. It's been really helpful for me though and I haven't gained much weight considering I'm also on zyprexa and invega.
