Overactive amygdala?

Postby Justddrown » Thu Dec 20, 2018 3:12 am

I’ve read that an overactive amygdala is prevalent in bipolar disorder and can lead to many things anxiety being a big one since the amygdala is the source of fight or flight within the brain. Studies have shown that Ingesting CBD can reduce its activity within the brain which also makes sense because if my breathing is labored I’ve several times purchased cbd gummies to have a calming effect. My main question is are their any medications out there to cool down that area of the brain? so to speak

Also, while this post deals with anxiety it stems from bipolar disorder.

Anxiety medications work great for bipolar. Benzodiazepenes such as Valium or Klonopin take away stress and anxiety that are some of the major symptoms of bipolar. Although it's certainly better to manage your anxiety naturally.
Yoga, meditation, baths, sauna, steamroom, sprints/jog/walk/bike/swim, being in nature, lifting heavy weights, sleepytime tea, sexual release, reading boring books, relaxing music, lots of sleep in a totally dark quiet/white noise room, limit caffeine, comfort food like pasta and bread etc. help me when I'm manic.

I found this for some other medications that might help.
Be kind to everyone you come across because you never know who’s suffering inside.
