Seroquil withdrawls

Postby Justddrown » Sun Dec 09, 2018 9:29 pm

So for the past year and a half I’ve been reducing seroquil in hopes of getting off of it. I was at 875 mg and I’m down to 175. The doctor really didn’t know how to practice medicine. I just reduced from 200 to 175 this week and things are going haywire again. Each time I reduce I’m like this but after I adjust I’m more well than I was at the higher dose. Things become more clear to me but when reducing this particular medication I for lack of a better term lose it albeit slightly better than the last time I lost it. This particular change scares me because I’m feeling physical withdraws and mental strain and psychosis showing itself. It seems a lot for a 25 mg drop. The only thing I can do is have faith that after adjusting I’ll do better than I did before and will be more mindful.

I'm not a doctor and I don't want to tell you what to do, but when I got off of Seroquel, my doctor insisted that I needed something to replace it. That is when he put me on Vraylar. The Seroquel sedated me too much and I was only on 200 mg/day, but I felt drugged every morning when I tried to get out of bed. It was like I was wading around in syrup. Seroquel is an antipsychotic. I don't know if you are on another antipsychotic, but you may need something in place of the Seroquel. This may be something to explore with your physician. Good luck.

Are you hoping to go completely off meds? That can be a disaster but if you are closely monitored and taper slowly it might be okay. Otherwise you might want to try a different med. Seroquel has some of the most side effects. A mood stabilizer like Lithium or Lamictal may help especially if you're trying to quit antipsychotics completely (not recommended). I'd also try a different antipsychotic: I've had pretty good luck with Invega.

I’m not trying to go off meds completely. Unfortunately that won’t happen for me in my lifetime. I’m trying to get off of seroquil and it’s been replaced by lamictal and Geodon. I was on 800mg of seroquil, 75mg of the psychsofrenic version which is the starting dose which is a disorder I don’t have. So, I was on 800mg extended realease seroquil 75 mg of the schizophrenic version, 2000mg of depikote each day, lexapro. I’m now on 175mg of seroquil extended release, 80mg of geodon 2 times a day, 150mg of Wellbutrin, 200mg of Zoloft, 300mg of lamotragine, 2000mg of depikote. I have a family member that abused drugs for 30 years to the point of several suicide attempts. Her insurance wouldn’t cover so she had to quit taking seroquil and she said it’s the worst med she’s withdrawn from. I believe her. I just haven’t felt this profound of an effect off of a 20 mg reduction before. It kind of sucks because it may take another year or so and more med changes to get off of it. Plus I don’t like feeling happy and full of energy and someone else just to look back and realize I was manic at the time and not actually stable happiness.how long did it take you?

Sending hugs, if wanted Justddrown. Having med changes can be very difficult. But have faith that you are working toward becoming stable and feeling good. I've taken Seroquel in light doses and I remember when I first took it, about 10 years ago, I would not be able to wake up easily and it was hard.

If it's unbearable you might ask your doc about valium or klonopin, but those are also addictive.

Thanks QuietGirl. I’m trying to have faith. Last year and a half has been tough going off the rails and disgracing myself. I do believe to have shown improvement it’s just become this 3 yr process. But faith, that’s it.

z7z, My doctor is afraid to over medicate me but I have trouble breathing over anxiety and pace my house back and forth. I sometimes buy cbd gummies if I feel too labored but they also make me tired.

The seroquil is a mild trank.

Say you feel too up one day, eat some lettuce. It's a super light domesticated trank. Wild lettuce is heavier.

I’m going to alternate between 175mg and 200mg a night and see if I can ween down that way. Lettuce? I love a good ceasar salad but lettuce? I’ll have to look into that.
