Having trouble not panicking

Postby javert03 » Wed Oct 31, 2018 1:52 am

Ok so about a month ago, I got a letter from SSA about them reviewing my disability claim. Everyone told me not to worry about it, it happens all the time, that my doctor would straighten it all out. Then a little while later I got a letter saying they had decided I was no longer disabled due to the fact o help my elderly, disabled parents get to the doctor and stuff. I was told explicitly in the letter that my anxiety and lack of personal grooming did not represent a barrier to employment, and I have 7 days to file a protest or my medical and financial benefits would end. So I had to go to the social security office today, it was full of people, pressing my social anxiety button, then I had to detail to the clerk why I should keep my disability and had a freaking full blown panic attack while doing it. I am trying to get into see my pdoc bit he couldn't see me till next week. I am between counselors and just needed to tell someone about this.

Thanks

I take Klonopin for anxiety. It's like beer in a pill. As far as disability, most people need a lawyer as like a threat to get approved. Find one that only takes a small fee if you win.
Be kind to everyone you come across because you never know who’s suffering inside.

Thanks, I will talk to my pdoc about anxiety meds when I see him next week. I have contacted several lawyers and none of them got back to me, I guess my case isnt something they want.

Reading between the lines a bit, your parents are part of your life and you have a good relationship with them. You help them. Ask them for help if you need it.
Hopefully it is only short term because (between the lines again) your pdoc will be able to intervene for you. Where I live, a letter from the doctor is generally all that is needed.

If your pdoc won't write that letter, then maybe you have to take a serious look at yourself. Horrible isn't it. I know taking responsibility for myself is not always easy. Sometimes it is necessary.

Practice good stress management. Eat, sleep, exercise and yes, take a shower and put on clean clothes.

Easy for me to preach. I'm retired. My diet is irregular. I go to bed after midnight every night and don't get up until nearly noon. Exercise? What's that? I am pretty good at laundry and showering so 2 out of 5 is almost a pass.
It is not always possible to make someone's discomfort go away.
Sometimes, the best thing we can do is resist the urge to fix it and instead just say, "You, too?"
