BPD & Drug Addiction - death *TRIGGER WARNING*

Postby grievingfriend » Wed Aug 22, 2018 8:17 pm

I am heartbroken. I wanted to write here and express what happened. My best friend - a man, 45, gay, married - was a BP1 with history of drug overdose recently relapsed and started using drugs without anyone knowing. He passed away on Saturday. I was suppose to have dinner with him at 9 pm on Friday, he was a no-show. When I didn't hear from him by Saturday morning, I went back to his home, notified his husband that was on a business trip, and they found him unresponsive. He was gone.

A few things - for those of you that are secretly taking drugs - especially heroin.
The streets are full of BAD/KILLING drug. They sell drugs and add "Fentimal" to it which instantly kills. Please know that if you are buying or using, this is what will happen to you.

I stood there in my friend's Apartment and the only person from his side as I watched 5 different groups of people - police, emt, first department, medical examiner, etc, etc come and go. I had to repeat my story 15 times and show them my text messages so they could figure out that timeline etc. I personally stood there making sure they treated my dead friend with respect and knew what a kind and amazing man he was.

They took his body away. It will be cremated - and that is IT. His file will go to a pile for the detectives but nothing else. No drug dealer will go to jail, nothing. He will turn to ashes!

I am heartbroken. I hadn't seen my best friend for 2 months - I did think it was strange but he was coming up with excuses which didn't make me suspicious. Though Friday night when he was a "no-show" I did get worried. And watching him dead for 4 hours with 15 people coming to his home as he turns into ashes is not how he deserved the end of his life to be.

I was told by the detectives that the opioid crisis has become out of control. This man must have bought bad drugs and must have instantly killed him.

The drug crisis is out of control. If you're going to use heroin, crack, or meth you should beware of what you're getting into. It's not like the 70's where the drugs are fairly safe and pure. Even marijuana is very potent or can be laced now.
Be kind to everyone you come across because you never know who’s suffering inside.

Just wanted to say I’m very sorry for your loss I am a recovered ex intravenous amphetamine user and unfortunately addiction to hard drugs is so strong that every hit you take you know it could be your last. With intravenous drug use if you make one mistake injecting you die and 50% of people die within 3 months of injecting. But addiction is a powerful disease and it taken so many of my friends lives and I love the point you made treating him with dignity and respect and letting people know he was a person too so many people think all drug addicts deserve to die so I’m sure wherever he is he’s is very happy you made sure he was treated with care respect and dignity as honestly when you take a hit every hour knowing this one could kill you love compassion and respect are greatly appreciated. So sorry for your loss.
you cannot choose the hand you are dealt, but you can choose how you play the hand.
