Bipolar with age.

Postby user76290 » Sat Jul 21, 2018 7:26 am

I am going on 35 years old and have had his condition now since I was about 16 years old. Has anybody's hallucinations gotten worse with time? I'm on Seroquel and Depakote right now. Have been for a long time. Recently the delusions have gotten real bad. But that's not what worries me. I used to just hear and smell things. Now I have to started seeing things. It seems like every time I have a manic episode they get worse. Is this common? Should I expect the episodes to get worse as I age? I'm not worried about the hallucinations. I've had them a long time and are used to them. Troubling part is the delusions. You think this sounds like schizophrenia? Schizophrenia runs in my family. Along with bipolar disorder and clinical depression. But most the time I function and have no hallucinations at all. I might get them off and on a couple times a year for about 2 weeks. The delusions are mild when I'm medicated so I ignore them. I have heard from a couple people ECT is the only option sometimes if the psychosis gets real bad.
