Episodes on Meds

Postby Knoxious » Wed Apr 11, 2018 10:34 pm

Have you ever had an episode of hypo/mania on meds?

Was it just as intense and frequent as without meds?

Right now i'm in a hypomanic episode, but i feel like it's dampened in intensity compared to before i was medicated. Frequency of episodes for me has stayed the same, though. Do you relate?

Thanks,
- Knox

Oh yeah, they're not frequent, but they're still there. I generally need to get triggered by something for one to happen, but they still happen. No medication or combination of medicine is perfect.

Sorry to hear that you're going through an episode right now. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks.

I'm glad i'm not alone, even though i wish you good health.

On second thought, the frequency of mine are less as well.

My doctor wants me off lithium and invega and only on Vraylar. I'm tempted to go along with this because i love being happily hypomanic. Although it is expensive, as i burn tons of cash.

Hugs Knox. If wanted.

Just throwing a me too out there. Stress triggers episodes for me. For sure. My meds are not prefect. One, brand Lamcital, is perfect and keeps me generally episode and symptom free. Its such a wonderful stability. I can't get it though.. way too expensive that I can't afford it. So I take the far less effective generic version.

Oh well, not a poor me story. We all do the best we can, even if smaller episodes peek over the meds we take. I just count my lucky stars that I have meds at all. I imagine life would be far more difficult if I didn't have what I have. So yeah... grateful.

Word to that, Son.

I'm having a horrible day, but:

I can't believe i'm in this moment right now. Even though my situation is poor, and has been getting worse ever since i graduated college, it's crazy.. how it.. feels tonight. Crush me. With the.. things you do. Sorry. Listening to DMB.

Anyway, i'm glad you can afford something at all. My state has really good health insurance, so i can get anything i like. Maybe i'll try lamictal if being on only vraylar isn't enough. But regardless.. you're here with us today, Son. And for that we are thankful. Just knowing that the world is round is sometimes all that really matters.

Thank you much for your reply.

I wish I still had hypomanic episodes (without losing control though)... I had a bad period with suicidal thoughts etc and they added Voxra and Seronil which helped from that point of view. However these plus Risperdal, Lamictal, and Abilify I am taking at the moment have kinda "cut the highs", and am only experiencing either lowish mood or close to normal at best. I was often very sharp, super productive etc when under control. I am now slow, not productive at all and I struggle with doing even small things...

It's sad how different it can be in different parts of the world re: health care. I have my meds paid for me almost entirely - I only pay 4.50 euros for each medicine regardless of how many packages I take from the prescription. I also have free therapy, doctor, etc. All of this would cost me a lot if private. No need for health insurance here in Finland. I feel very lucky to live here for this reason.

What meds are you on? Are you on lithium too? I think you posted about lithium and cutting off your hand and eating it.

Yeah. I'm supposed to be taking lithium and risperdal, stopped for a while and was doing good, but took a few lithium doses. I don't recall why exactly I wanted to eat my hand though.

The meds don't do $#%^ for me. People love meds and the doctors tried to prescribe them but honestly they keep me out of full-blown Mania but that's it. I stay in Mania even on antipsychotics for months. I still hear voices every now and again. And my mood swings can still be extremely $#%^. I have anger problems most of time medicated . irritable and my moods are piss poor even with what the doctors would call stabilized. Only difference depressions not as bad and the Mania is not full-blown.
