Ultradian cycling

Postby voracious_lemon » Mon Mar 26, 2018 12:24 am

I think I'm experiencing ultradian cycling right now. It is hell. Have you ever had it and if so what treated it?

Yes, I have. It happened last year, all throughout August. It was the first and only time I have experienced it, and it was indeed hell. I thought I was going crazy. I wound up in the psych ward.

I was having awful depression, bursts of euphoric mania, TONS of anxiety, and psychosis. It eventually went away on it's own. I refuse to take more meds at this point, so I just stuck it out. And used Klonopin much more than usual.

Sorry you're going through this. And sorry I don't have advice.

I go through it too. Not as much as I used to, but it still happens. Sometimes it's only twenty or thirty minutes before I cycle back to depression or mania. I also have psychosis during it at times. Sorry to hear that you're going through. Like you said, it is hell. There's no other way to describe it.

Yes, I've had it, too, and for me it came under the umbrella of a mixed episode, which is what my pdoc at the time diagnosed it as. At the time, I could switch from hypomanic, 'stable' to depressed, all within one day, and it truly was hellish, confusing and exhausting. I'm so sorry you're going it through it right now, voracious.

What really helped me was the addition of an antipsychotic- at the time, I was put on Seroquel and I'm now on Zyprexa. Maybe it's worth asking your pdoc about the addition or increase of an AP... I hope you get to speak to them very soon. Hugs! x

I'm feeling stable today, but my mom wants me to call my pdoc anyways, especially considering I'm not sleeping well. I told her I get my 8 hours in... every week.
As far as psychiatrists go, I would trust a bear not to eat my homemade peanut butter honey energy bars more than I trust pdocs to actually help me so I'm not calling. On that note I stopped all my meds. I cancelled my t appointment and dont plan on going back either because she's just making me worse too.

So your medications don't help you? You're non-responsive to them?

They help... help me be terrified of my doctors, pharmacists, and the people I live with.

Lemon, thinking of you. You’re not alone. Keep posting.

My pharmacist was awful and wanted my pdoc to change my meds. He got deported, turns out. That’s sad, but my new pharmacist is better. Walgreens, hate them, but insurance.

Take care. xo
