in crisis and scared

Postby Son » Tue Feb 27, 2018 4:59 pm

Just reaching out for help. Last weekend I was very agitated and manic. Loud, acting out in public, kicking walls, singing loudly, pacing. I am going to write up a crisis plan today. I have never written one before. Has anyone else? What's good to write on it besides emergency contact numbers?

Any encouragement would help. I'm pretty scared.

This is mania time of year for me emerging from the hibernation of winter. I would contact your pdoc immediately and go in and see if a med change or lifestyle change is necessary. If it gets severe I would head to inpatient and don't hesitate. In the meantime try some relaxation techniques that usually work for you.
Be kind to everyone you come across because you never know who’s suffering inside.

Oh Son, I am so sorry.

I did a quick search on Google for crisis plans, and there is an example you can download. The only crisis plans I have ever made were at the hospital, since it is mandatory upon being released. It just asks to list your warning signs, your strengths, your coping techniques, your emergency contacts, and names/numbers of your therapist and pdoc.

I second everything z7z has said.

Thanks z7z and JellyBeanery. My Dr added Neurontin to my meds, taking three times a day. It makes me drowsy but this is my second day feeling far less agitated. So far so good. I still need to write up the crisis plan though.

I am staying with friends to feel safe. They have been a big help/ I am going to stay around people I know and that know me until I know I'm better.

z7z hit the nail on the head. I'm glad you were able to get a hold of your pdoc, but if it doesn't get any better, don't be afraid to to go a hospital.

ok everyone, I hear you loud and clear. If I'm not better soon I will head to inpatient care. I am still very impatient.

((((Son))))
I hope the neurontin brings you down quickly and to a soft landing. My crisis plan has all the things JB said, and a plan of what to do when in crisis (call pdoc, be around people, have someone manage my medications for me, etc). Hopefully it doesn't come to IP, but I'm glad you're open to the idea if you feel you need it.

Thanks VL! The Neurontin is slowly being upped over time... it is def calming me. I stayed with friends for almost a week. Invading their space, but it helped a lot!! great friends to have. I do feel amped up but had therapy and that calmed me a bit too. I was given permission to not have to"fix" myself. I can build awareness, and organize how I see my themes and disorder, but no need to obliterate these parts of myself. Cannot tell you how much of a relief that is.
