Hi everyone!

Hi everyone!
I’m new to this site and have been diagnosed with Bipolar 2, major depression, anxiety and OCD with excoriation. Yesterday I was admitted to a Intensive Residental Treatment facility with a projected stay of 90 days. My meds are still being adjusted by my Psychiatrist.
My mood today: anxious, tearful... yet, I’m grateful to be here. I just need to trust the professionals. Baby Steps...

Hello, Grace, and welcome! Do they allow you to have computers there? I was at a psychward, and I wasn't allowed any sort of electronic. I was allowed books, and we had an activity time where we got to play a Wii once (as well as board games and stuff).

I hope you'll get through okay. Trusting the professionals isn't easy, especially with anxiety, but they're there to do a job. I didn't trust them at first because of my Schizophrenic stuff, but I rationalized with myself by telling myself "they get paid to help me. If they don't help me, and instead, make me worse, I could file a lawsuit and get money!" Granted, that's a very long stretch with the lawsuit thing, but they're paid to help you. They're not paid to ignore you or do you any harm. That's how I came to trust them, and I hope it helps you too.

Welcome! It is comforting to have a diagnosis and realize that it is an illness like any other illness and you're not alone. 90 days seems like a long time personally so hopefully you'll get stable sooner and can carry on with your life.
Be kind to everyone you come across because you never know who’s suffering inside.

Welcome to the Forum. I hope you are able to benefit from participating here.
Compassion and empathy abound from real people who have been there or are there now...

After a brief stay in a hospital, I was put in a 12 week program of outpatient group therapy. 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. While I didn't see any miracle cures, I was able to learn a lot about myself and how I function in a group. It was very helpful in reshaping my life. Now years later, I am still learning and growing. No quick fixes. No easy answers. But the help available can be helpful if you are open to it. Some of it won't be a good fit for you. Choose what you think will be helpful and go with it.

Take care,
It is not always possible to make someone's discomfort go away.
Sometimes, the best thing we can do is resist the urge to fix it and instead just say, "You, too?"
