How to deal with foggy brain?

Postby TuesdayC » Wed Sep 13, 2017 4:10 pm

I've been unable to think clearly and I'm struggling in school because of it. I don't think it's caused by meds, I went off them for a while and still felt extremely foggy. What can I do to think clearer and keep up with my classes? Desperate for some help.

What is your diagnosis and what do you take? Some meds can definitely cause it. Coming off the meds you could have withdrawal and not feel that great too.
Coffee helps me with school. So does Vitamin D3 4,000 IU/day. There is an ADHD medicine that helps people but if you have bipolar it could cause mania.
Be kind to everyone you come across because you never know who’s suffering inside.

I've received a bipolar II and an ADHD diagnosis (I'm not sure if I have ADHD or just brain fog) but I take lamictal ability and atarax. The brain fog came about a year and a half ago around the time I had had breakdowns that sent me to the hospital. I had been on lamictal for a while and the other two meds I wasn't on. Adderall made me chain smoke and lose too much weight so I stopped. But even coffee doesn't really help I just feel confused always and can sum up my thoughts into words

Eating healthy (lots of vegetables, fruit), exercise, and good regular sleep helps too. Maybe take a multivitamin as well. Looked up Atarax and it says it acts as a sedative so that could be contributing to it. Lots of bipolar meds aren't great for school. They seem to mask the symptoms somewhat and cause nasty side effects.
