If you have a relatively clean record of no past drug abuse history they won't think you're drug seeking automatically although some will always be wary, just depends how relaxed your doctor is. I've had pdocs who would prescribe anything under the sun and some who are very tight and cautious.
It can be done, I decided I wanted to go back on stimulants again and gradually just went through the steps of asking my pdoc and using the fact that I did have a previous childhood diagnosis of ADHD, albeit I didn't take the medication as a child. Soon enough I was doing the adult adhd tests again which I only had to reduce my attention span a little more than normal to exaggerate my poor concentration skills and before I knew it the psychologist had me on 45mg Ritalin daily. Unfortunately because I actually DID abuse it, it ended very badly and I don't have access to it anymore and suffer from a chronic feeling of lethargy, as if I have done crystal meth and feel like nothing feels the same anymore after doing it. I'm on mood stabilisers and have a BP diagnosis, I am going to try and talk to my new doc about starting something stimulating, and obviously without intending on abusing it this time, because I did get some therapeutic benefit, but I enjoyed the pep without a doubt 100%
