BIPOLAR MEDICATION

Postby runaway32 » Wed Jun 13, 2007 5:07 am

I have been diagnosed with Bipolar II and I also have ADD and social anxiety problems. Right now I'm on 300mg of Lamictal, been on it a long time and it sort of helps, but I don't think it's strong enough. I tried Seroquel and it just made me sleepy. My main part of bipolar is the depression episode but a lot of anti-depressants and ADD medicines make my manic episode a lot more often and worse, or just make my moods change more rapidly. I'm not sure what to do. I have a really fast metabolism and it takes a lot of a medication for me to feel anything. I had to get up to 20mg of Lexapro to think maybe if I got on more it could help, but they can't give me more than that. I think I need to get my moods stabilized before I try to cure my social anxiety and ADD, but I don't know. Someone please help me.

Ugh meds, love/hate relationship we have with them. have u tried depakote? it has relatively few side effects but was a good MS for me, it also will probably not allow u to go manic The dosage isn't as high as some of the others (currently meant to be taking topiramate...gees)
Moods i find affect general social anxienty associated with bipolar, so i should think if u made an effort to maintain a level going then it should make a difference to the rest.

It'll be ok xx

What does your doctor say about this?

Many times I feel I need more meds, but my pdoc refuses to give me more. I finally learned that I am just expecting to much from my medications.

My highs and lows, my meds help with them. They become smaller highs and lows they don't disappear. Well sometimes they disappear and I feel great, but then I have to watch for mania again.

I've tried 40mg Lexapro a day. Well, 1x20mg in the morning and 1x20mg in the evening while i was taking 200mg lamictal (1x100mg in the morning and 1x100mg in the evening). At first the lamictal would put me to sleep, but i think i'm used to it now. I think i have ADD/ADHD, not sure which one (sounds funny i know). So i thought taking Wellbutrin as well with these meds. Wellbutrin SR 100mg just once a day (Bupropion HCL ER). I guess it started helping again. Problems: Can't relax, be around people, maybe public gore + million's more? Noticed i started getting my problems back, so i added 1x100 also in the evening. Seemed to work, but i have no $%^&ing clue what to do now.
Besides i got off Lexapro because of my $%^&ing insurance not covering it 100% but only 50% since it's a none formulated med, so instead of $35 co-pay i had to pay $76 GREAT! Now i'm taking Effexor XR 75mg once a day instead of Lexapro. Also continuing my Lamictal, but thinking maybe i should take more but it makes me feel like a zombie or maybe the mixture between Lamictal and Wellbutrin 100mg SR causes it. I'm also taking Strattera (Samples) 1x18mg for ADD/ADHD, since i didn't notice JACK from Wellbutrin. Now not only i'm taking Effexor, Strattera, and Lamictal, but i'm adding 1x100mg Wellbutrin in the morning and 1x100mg in the evening. I don't seem to notice any benefit. I think my anxiety went away, but memory, concentration, and more stay the same. Damn this is long. I know we all can write a BOOK. I'll stop here....
