I feel the same way as M5. I guess this is what's called racing thoughts. Typically bipolar.

Sometimes I think normal people don't think lol

Although I don't think anyone is normal, I'll chime in as a "normal" person. My thoughts are typically in the moment or on what I need to do in the next few hours. If I am upset by something it's rarely projected into the future but can be connected to the past ( in an argument with someone and we have had the same issue before). The past events can fuel the frustration/anger in that moment but my thoughts stay pretty focused. After I will mull it over and decide what needs to be done about the situation if anything & once I have that figured out, I can set it aside & go on. I get over being angry, sad, or disappointed fairly quickly so long as the issue is resolved. I compartmentalize my emotions, so if I am angry with person A it doesn't affect my dealings with person B or my performance at work. I'm able to focus on what I'm doing and deal with the emotions later. As a general rule emotions don't overwhelm me (there are the exceptions but not many). I don't know, does that answer the question at all?? Lol

Wow thanks for all your replies! I tried to reply to this so many times but my brain decided it was not going to let me understand what anyone was explaining.

I definitely understand a little better now, especially rings true when you guys talk about "normal" people being able to think in a straight line, I can definitely relate to NOT being able to do that and thoughts being all over the place, as I say having no control. I am actually slightly relieved to be feeling rather depressed today, if only because my mind has finally started to quieten down... does anyone sometimes feel really exhausted with the constant confusion?
That's what life's about man, good times, a little salad.

Yes. It is exhausting isn't it? And confusing. Sometimes I wonder who I am.

***Oh crap. Now I started crying for no reason. Don't you hate that? At least nobody is here to be disturbed that I'm crying for no reason. I might need to cry, and they don't understand.

I once asked my psychologist this question. He said my dialogue in my head ran at a faster pace and my emotions were higher.

When it gets bad, or got bad I should say, it was a kin to being in a crowded train station and trying to carry on a conversation. Being bombarded by all different sounds, voices, the bustling and trying to maintain, did get exhausting. Worse off those were usually days I couldn't shut my mind down at night, adding to it.
