Hello Everyone. You have bear with me I dont know all the terms or termilogy. I am spouse of man that been diagnose bipolar depresive. (I think) HE has been on Deporte for the past month. Has one taken that. Did you have problems sleeping. He has had sever case of insomia for the past 2 weeks. He does have appt with the dr this week. He been on the pills for about 20 days. I have been sending reports to the dr. Also we been keeping mood chart. He had bad insomia before this is escalated. ITs almost like his brain cant shut off.

Suggestions and Thoughts.

The Depakote should really help him sleep once he's on a therapeutic dose. I've taken Depakote before and made me extra sleepy. His insomnia is probably due to his mania. I would suggest having his therapist raise the amount of Depakote he's taking.
Bipolar Disorder 1
Equetro 300mg x 2
Zoloft 100mg
Alprazolam (Xanax) .5 mg as needed

Never been on Depakote. Quetiapine (seroquel) worked wonders for my insomnia, though. I would definitely talk it over with his doctor. Not sleeping is bad news for people with bipolar!

I'm finding Remeron is helping me sleep a fair bit, and it seems to work quickly. I had never even heard of it before. It's gentle too, not like the benzo hammer. It gives me the munchies like weed, though.
