Medication for Energy

Postby artsya3 » Thu Jul 31, 2014 3:57 am

My psych is hesitant with giving me stuff that will make me manic, I take ability and it takes away my mania........ but I'm like lethargic, I sleep so much esp. this week I want to ask her to give me something else cause she tried once that gives me energy something for lethargic or something, I've been trying to google medications to read about them to have something to suggest but can't find any anyone have any suggestions that I can look up and see if she might give me something like it or it.

It's tough to say, being bipolar I know I've been on different mood stabilizers that have made me lethargic and some that I used to sleep 12-14 hours a day on. I have found the right mood stabilizer for me, though, in Equetro. Maybe ask your P-doc about that. Also, anti depressants should give you some energy.

The other suggestions I have would be to sleep just 7-8 hours a night, try taking a 15-20 minute nap a day, exercise every day, even walking 30 minutes a day should help. Examine your diet and be sure your eating a balanced diet. Cut out as much sugar as you can. ETC. Drink plenty of water every day, dehydration can make you feel sluggish. Try eating almonds every day for a snack, it works for me.

Good Luck,

Justin

Thanks Justin, I'm not sure if the ability is making me sleep i think its' just me. but I probably could walk and drink more water that would probably help. I just wake up and go to sleep again I did it three times today I mean like a full 8 hours each time about. I'll search equator to see what that is. I'm pretty sure I could use an anti depressant but i think they don't seem to work for me least what I've tried so far. still trying to figure out what works for me.

It's Equetro. And yeah, it's the only mood stabilizer that I've stuck with because the side effects are so minimal. I haven't gained any weight on it and doesn't make me sleepy.

Yeah, you have to fight that urge to go back to sleep, though I know the feeling and I've had those days. If you're sleeping that much you must not be eating either which could make you lethargic too. I mean we still burn calories when we sleep. More sleeping than watching tv I'm told. Coffee works for me too, especially in the morning. Green tea is good stuff, as well. Maybe you could try setting a few alarms and space them out in your house so you have to get up 8)

I seriously dont think they make meds that will not make us tired or slow or sleepy. The person that does is going to be rich.
Until the im going to stick to coffee to get me moving.

. They do have medications for it, I just don't know the name/s that is why I'm asking. I'm a coffee nut and drink much but that doesn't do it for me.

my p-doc put me on wellbutrin which seems to be helping a little with getting me out of bed in the morning. It didn't induce mania in me at least.

Hi! I take Geodon. And yes, Geodon will be you very sleepy. But my pdoc told me to to take it before bedtime. It puts me to sleep. But it doesn't make me tired the next morning or the rest of the day. Take this with a word of caution, as I have heard some other people say it makes them tired all the time, but this has never been the case for me. It also doesn't make you gain weight. It's been my miracle drug. Good luck to you and I hope you find what you're looking for.

oh Geodon... I did try that too, I liked it so much because it actually gave me motivation, I started to sew clothes, not very well lol but did that...... the problem with Geodon was that it gave me some weird side effect that I couldn't stand It made my arms feel weird and idk something odd was going on like my skin wanted to crawl out or something idk .. but Yes I would like motivation . :/ Glad it works for you It didn't even make me sleepy.
Abilify doesn't make me sleepy either, it's just me that is sleepy with or withough ability, but the ability works for my mania being taken away it just for some reason i'm still really depressed and sleepy and in some funk slump.
