I'm going crazy... SPIDERS?!

Postby Gemmaleanne » Sun Jul 27, 2014 8:17 pm

Ok so in got put on olanzapine a while back during a manic episode to curb some psychosis, delusional thoughts and both visual and auditory hallucinations, the visual being mostly hooded figures at the window etc, anyway just like all abtipsychotics I didn't react great and the side effects ontop of the bad reactions were the weight gain and tiredness and I just sacked it off in the end.. The psychosis did stop not long after so I just gave a sigh of relief that I hadn't needed to take them on the end.

Anyway a few months on now, I'm not sure if I'm slipping into a depressive episode so have just started chatting again, but iv started seeing things again.. Only this time it's spiders.. It's almost always in the middle of the night, they're huge. On walls, pillows, floor.. Even flying ones. It's happening most nights for the past few weeks but has been every night the last 4 days. Is it usual to see spiders as hallucinations? And at night? Or could it be something else..?

Wow, I am so sorry you are going through this. I have a general fear of bugs in general, spiders are creepy. I thankfully do not see things that aren't there.

I don't have much to offer as in I know how this is. I don't. I would definitely tell the doc in case it is meds induced or they aren't working for you, etc. I hope this gets better. Sorry I can't help more.

My heart goes out to you. I have seen hooded beings a few times, often hear music or TVs that are not on in our house, knocks on the door or wall and a few other odd things. Never insects. That must be very scary. I suggest that you contact your Pdoc ASAP to let him know the disorder is ramping up in activity again and exactly what is happening. He may recommend tweaking your meds. That has helped me at times. I wish you well, hope all works out.

I agree it would be a good idea to talk to your Dr about this sooner rather than later so they can review your meds. In terms of antipsychotics there are a lot of them so if olanzapine does not suit you then ask for something different. This sounds really distressing for you - I hope your Dr can help and that things settle soon

You can find the right combination of meds that will help you get rid of these bad things.
