Hey all, Embarrising question. I recently stared taking geodon. I also recently starting a relationship with a new girl. Things are getting physical. However, I am having trouble "finishing the deed" if you will. This was never a problem before. Anyone else know if a side of geodon is making it harder to finish in bed?

Hi there,
Sexual side-effects seem to be pretty common with mood-altering medications, especially antipsychotics.
I found this for you:While you are taking Geodon, sexual side effects may potentially occur. Among the sexual problems that can occur during treatment with Geodon are impotence, difficulty achieving orgasm, and ejaculation problems. Let your healthcare provider know if you develop any Geodon sexual side effects. He or she may recommend treatment, or may suggest adjusting your Geodon dosage or trying a different medication for schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. From:
http://bipolar-disorder.emedtv.com/geod ... fects.htmlI was on Geodon 6 years ago. I am a woman. I have a very healthy sex drive, but it markedly decreased for me while I was taking Geodon.
Every antipsychotic I've been on has dampened my sex drive.
I take only Lithium now, without any sexual side-effects.

This is not embarrassing at all. A lot of us had those problems.
I am very sorry to hear that. Personally I haven't used geodon but I had similar side effects from Lexapro and Risperdal where I would just lose all interest in sex. Physically I could get aroused and perform, it's just that I didn't see the point -- why have sex if you can read a book? kind of feeling.
I suggest you discuss this with your psychiatrist. It is a kind of side effect that disturbs your daily functioning -- especially in a new relationship. Maybe it goes away after a while (I don't know how long "recently" is) or maybe you can get some additional med to help with it. But in any case, talk to your doctor about it and say it is important to you. (I noticed some doctors dismiss sexual side effects, while others understand the importance of them, which I suppose explains a lot about doctors themselves...)
Currently working on my upcoming signature.
