Saw Psychiatrist today, update on mood swings and paranoia

Postby quietgirl2538 » Mon Jul 14, 2014 10:43 pm

Apparently the symptoms on both issues are bad enough to need an increase in Latuda, a mood stabilizer from 80mg to 120mg. Also, he is waiting on lab results on the Lithium and how it is affecting me, so he can also increase that too. He said he wants me to be to a point that things don't get so out of hand. So he wants to catch the mood swings and paranoia early and fix it. That is all on that.

Sounds like your Pdoc is on top of things. Staving off these symptoms is important. I took 120mg of Latuda for awhile, and the side effects at 120mg were the same as at 80mg. It took care of my paranoia and psychosis. I hope you have a good result.
Dx: BP1 mixed rapid-cycling, BPD, PTSD

I'm glad you trust your psychiatrist and tell them all that is happening in your head.
That way he can help you the most by getting you on appropriate amounts of the right drugs.

Be still as you go through the transition and changes in your prescriptions.

Take care,
It is not always possible to make someone's discomfort go away.
Sometimes, the best thing we can do is resist the urge to fix it and instead just say, "You, too?"

Caribee4me, I am glad to know that 120 mg of Latuda works ok. I was worried about the side effects the doctor warned me about.

skilsaw,
I trust the psychiatrist, he has been working with me over 8 years and was careful not to misdiagnose me. I just officially got diagnosed with bipolar even though I know myself and my history better than he does. I strongly suspected I was bipolar. Now he knows it is too without a doubt. Thank you for your kind words. :D
