A question of meds

Postby The1andonlyMoon » Fri Jul 11, 2014 2:17 pm

Hi all, it's been a while since I've been on but I have a question. For the past 2 1/2 to 3 years I have been taking Seroquel XR. Due to lack of insurance, my shrink has been giving me samples this whole time. I recently got insurance and am able to afford a prescription now. I swear that I feel different and am having a really hard time dealing with life since I started taking the prescription instead of the samples. The script doesn't appear to be generic so I think that can be ruled out. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this problem even real or a possibility. I feel like I'm about to lose it and don't know what to do. I have worked hard and built myself and my life up to a really good point. I really, really don't want to fall and lose it all.

The samples should be the same as the brand you now get through insurance. Are you sure you stayed on XR and didn't change to IR? If everything remained exactly the same, then I can't figure out why you're experiencing a difference now, taking the same med.

If you were switched from brand samples to a generic version using insurance, that could explain your different reaction. Even if your script says "Seroquel XR", the pharmacy will often give you generics instead of brand. You can ask your Pdoc to write your script for brand only in this scenario to ensure you actually receive the brand version, not generic

Do the pills look the same?

I used Zopiclon 7.5 mg from two different generic producers. They looked different, tasted different and WORKED different -- by which I mean one didn't. I had fights at the pharmacy about it every time I would come with a prescription. Finally the producer that made the version that worked took it out of the market and I was desperate for a while. Over a year later -- now -- I went back to the other Zopiclon generic and it works now. I think they actually had very different amounts of active substance per pill, even though they both say 7.5 mg.
Currently working on my upcoming signature.

The script bottle says Seroquel XR and the pills say XR 300 but the samples had a yellowish tint and the script pills are pure white.

i'd ask the pharmacy about the differences if any.
Also, could you of built up a tolerance over time. I know i do. I take generic Seroquel and even on the brand name i built up a tolerance and had to regulate my meds accordingly.
Caution, dyslexic writer ahead.
Spell check please

You could also talk to your doctor to ensure that he writes on your prescription to give you the brand name only and see if that helps?

I was on seroqel XR the generic and the name brand and have never have had a yellowish pill. I would ask your pysch.

I was on seroquel 600 at night and 300 XR so 900mg in total which is a very high dose, but I know what you mean when you feel like youre losing it. You should be on an anxiety medication ontop of this.
