Hi,

I wouldn't exactly call it painful but I do tend to have some weird sensations when an episode is about to begin, which feel 'physical'. When I'm becoming depressed, I often have a feeling of heaviness or pressure in my head, kind of as if a headache's constantly about to start. It's uncomfortable but not painful.
If my mood's going up, I can sometimes 'feel' what I can only describe as the 'busyness' of my thoughts, as if everything's buzzing around way too fast, and this feels physical and uncomfortable too.

I'm sorry you experience this type of pain, it sounds awful. Perhaps someone else will be able to relate more closely to it.

I get it as well but only during my manic episodes. I have just coke out of one of those. For 2 days I had to keep myself moving and extremely active, when I stopped it felt like my brain was going to implode from the thoughts.

I haven't noticed it during a depressed episode yet.

But you aren't alone in this.

I get what I think you are talking about. It is usually when I'm very depressed, but not psychotic. The only thing that helps me is to write or paint. It is not a constant for me--rather, a symptom. However, I tend to produce better work when I have a little bit of the brain pain, to be honest.

The most funny is that I have recurrent brief depression so I have over ten episodes for a year.

wen I cycle, whether psychosis is present or not. I FEEL my brain. i tell my therapist and psychiatrist it feels "wonky". which is a term I use bc I hav no clue how to describe how it feels. but I can literally FEEL my brain. I think it prolly sounds weird to other ppl but I think u might understand what I'm saying...wow...u get it!

This is an interesting thread. I also get these 'sensations' in episodes. I wouldn't call mine painful. My brain just feels heavy, like it might collapse in on itself in depression. In hypomania it feels like there's a weasel lightly chewing on the inside of my head, right at the back. Or, as someone else said, that I can feel my thoughts zipping around.
