Risperdal

Postby crubba67 » Sun Jun 01, 2014 11:14 am

How many of you have been switched from Risperdal to another atypical anti-psychotic? And if so, which one and what's the difference regarding the way it makes you feel? Any info would be a big help...I'm seeing my pdoc this month and want to switch to something less mind deadening...maybe Seroquel?

Thanks,

D

not really introduced myself on this sub yet but yes I have been diagnosed BPAD for over a decade, a lot of that time I was on Risperdal 2mg+ but eventually convinced my psych to swap me so I could drive, I live in a rural area and not being able to drive is nearly as big a handicap as the BP.

I'm on two different Atypicals:
amisulpride 400mg and Seroquel 100mg+ up to an extra 100mg for emergency situations ( it goes by Quetiapine here)
I find the combo works well though the sedating affect is pretty heavy it's nowhere near as bad or long lasting as the Risperdal. for me it was worth the switch it does take some time to cycle from one to the other so don't expect miracles in the first month but after that you should know if it's for you

here is an external link with input from different users

hope it helps
