Getting a diagnosis of bipolar can be a shock and also scary to face up to. but a good thing about having the diagnosis is that things can be done to treat you and improve the situation. I am glad you are on meds and that it sounds like they are helping. one thing I would really recommend you do is to try to figure out what your early warning signs are for high and low mood. If you can figure out what these are and learn to spot them (or have ppl close to you spot them) then hopefully episodes can be caught early and wont be as bad as they can be treated sooner rather than later. It is also worth educating yourself about BP so you understand more what you are dealing with. Being on a forum can be very helpful too I have found as can going to a support group.
In terms of it being with you forever, it will be. but you can learn to manage it well and that combined with meds and professional input can mean that you can get on with your life. It can be tough having BP but it is possible to have a good life despite having it.
hugs

i was rather bothered when i got my BP dx, i was in an intense psychotic manic episode and didn't believe it at all . The news took quite a while to set in , but it did eventually. Do not do what i did. Do not feel shame for your condition.
The most challenging things in our lives can strengthen us if we give it that mindset. Yes, BP can strengthen you. Me having bipolar is not just rainbows and daises , but i am actually glad i have the condition.
Stay strong
