A poem by Me :)

Postby Tickled » Wed Apr 02, 2014 8:20 pm

I saw the colours they were amazing
I could smell the scents in the air divine
And as the heavy rain poured down on me
I felt I was touched with heavenly wine
And the winds icy fingers brushed my skin
And it’s voice whispered in my ear a song
I listened, I heard and I wanted more
How could I know what felt so good was wrong
Caught in its grasp, succumbed by the pleasure
I breathed its breath and it felt like fire
Intoxicating, a burning passion
A promise to take me higher and higher
Safe in its embrace, I closed tight my eyes
And felt a rush of thoughts, a thousand dreams
A yearning to live like never before
Ideas gushing like rivers and streams.
But the wind turned cruel and merciless
And like an autumn leaf tossed into the air
I spiralled on up and plummeted down
And the wind it howled that it didn’t care
But swept me up before I hit the ground
I laughed as I rose another ascent
But the rain it drove at my flesh like hail
Higher and higher and up I still went.
And I glimpsed the sun as it took it's warmth
and slipped beyond the horizon
Colours were no longer vivid and bright
The cold set in and darkness came
And I fell steadily into the night.

This is who I am

Postby wretched1 » Sun Apr 06, 2014 8:58 am

Need to vent? I will listen quietly in my own pain
Need a punching bag? I can take blow after blow
Need a favor? I will serve you nothing due in re turn
Feet dirty? I am your doormat

I am neither partner nor equal, I am dirt beneath your feet
I am mechanical man, available any time for any thing
I am your personal genie, your wish is my command
I am your mule, I carry your burden

A man hath no greater love...
I have lived for you when death's embrace seduced me
I would die for you
I am dying for you

Bones brittle, muscles weary
Skin weathered, joints eroded
My heart torn and barely beating
My mind atrophied thoughts foggy

I am your Christ I absorb your sin

My limbs nailed back, useless
My lungs struggle against my weight
My back, arms, and legs are lacerated
Losing precious life blood

Naked and displayed for all to see
Mocked, denied, Betrayed
Insulted, spat upon, belittled
Tormented in mind and body

A mocking crown upon my head
I am not king of kings
My banner states,
"KING OF FOOLS"

Forgive them, they know not what they do
Why have they forsaken me?
I am martyr
My worth is in my sacrifice

Depressive Episode Poem

Postby gabbygabby12 » Mon Apr 07, 2014 1:13 am

Hello All

Saw someone post a poem a few days ago, and it prompted me to just blurt out my feelings on my keyboard.
Not professional, just cathartic.
Was discharged a few days ago from my 2nd psychiatric stay for depressive episode. Writing helps with the feeling of failure

Enjoy:)

Trying to talk through the quiver
Tears rimming her eyes, reflecting like glitter.
“Baby, it’s okay” she wants me to feel better.
But making your mother cry always tastes bitter,
So I swallow my sadness and smile a bit brighter.

During the day, she sees me walk straight,
I take my meds and swear I’m okay.
But the pills create when the daylight fades
A zombie that crawls, a zombie that sways.
Depressed daughter that’s been lost and astray.

The world was so bright when I was a wee child;
Open field heart, no secrets to hide.
Big happy family, such a beautiful sight,
But destroyed by the fiend that sticks to my side
And sucks on the will that keeps me alive.

But of this fiend, my mother cannot know
For she already fears my fall down the rabbit hole.
I wipe away her tears, convince her that no,
“I am not sad, I am not sick, I am not anymore”
Hoping my smile distracts from the blooming sideshow
Distracts from the cocked gun resting on my temple.

This is such a beautiful poem, the feelings are very well expressed. It made me cry.

Only a beautiful person can express so beautifully and delicately as you have done.

Arts Thread

Postby CrackedGirl » Mon Apr 07, 2014 10:42 am

Hi Everyone

We have noticed recently that there have been threads where people are expressing themselves and their experience of bipolar in the form of the arts - such as poetry. We have decided to make a sticky for this so please post here on this subject rather than in individual threads.

Please keep things anonymous - ie no links to identifying websites or youtube clips etc. Also please nothing commercial and no links to commercial sites.

We hope this will be a resource for you to express yourselves in

:D

I hope this doesn't violate any commercial linking but this is a digital drawing I did a while back as a representation of Bipolar Disorder.

This is a FANTASTIC drawing, PsychoJester. That devilish side is exactly how my hypomania feels, when senses are on fire, colours ragingly saturated, muscles tense with smile. Thank you.
Currently working on my upcoming signature.
