I was on Seroquel for about 6 months and I have absolutely no recollection of those 6 months. I honestly have no idea what I did in those 6 months. It's terrifying.

1.5 years on the big S. No big changes in memory. I have an excellent memory, except when I run high or low.

Has anyone had any memory loss as a result of taking seroquel? especially short-term memory?

I have used Seroquel for 4 years now. I have had no problems with memory using it. When I am on heavy doses my mind is slower, its harder to think and so memory recall is slowed but as soon as the dose wears off I'm normal again.
I use instant release at night so the medication is out of my system during the day and thus no side efforts when I need to perform my best.

During depressive episodes my memory is worse but that has nothing to do with Seroquel.

During Mania I have enhanced memory although when I get really high on the mood scale some false memories get created that I have to sort out later.

I have been taking 750mg of seroquel (along with the rest of my tablet cocktail) for the last 8 years, I have going that when I finally wake up from the medication I have no memory of the few days before, my short and mid term memory is non-existent, but my long term memory from when I was a toddler up to my teenage years is remarkable. My I.q has also dropped dramatically since taking the medication. The strange thing is I'll remember writing this in about 5/6 months time but not tomorrow

For 8 years I took 350 mg of Seroquel XR. I don't know if this happens to everyone who takes it but I strongly advise people to find another medicine that doesn't have as many side effects as this one. I never got better with it. I was a mess. When I stopped taking it I started to notice everything. Not only did I gain a LOT of weight but my memory suffered greatly. I have forgotten part of my life. Hearing family and friends tell stories I don't remember is frustrating. While on Seroquel it affected my Short Term memory. After stopping the medication everything got worse. Currently, I have to take Vyvanse in order to be able to concentrate on important tasks. I went from being a straight A student to a barely passing one. Doctors will never know the real side effects of medications because they don't take them. Plus they recommend the ones that they get paid to promote. It's not always in our best interest. There are few good doctors out there so be careful. I wish someone would have told me this before I accepted taking this medication. My current doctor has told me that there are meds with much less side effects and better results. If you feel that this is happening to you for any reason make someone listen. I'm not here trying to scare anyone. I want to prevent this from happening to you.

I'm on 500 mg seroquel XR. I never had so few side effects -- some hangover in the morning, and that's it. My memory has always been poor, and especially bad when I was on moclobemide. But seroquel doesn't seem to affect me.

Everybody's different :)

My memory is terrible atm and my dose of Quetiapine has been going up - I wonder if there is a link. I am seriously forgetting so much - it is getting embarrassing and also a little worrying

Hi!!!! I am so very thankfull for this Question... I have been on Seroquel for a few years now... I am experiencing severe Short Term Memory Loss... As first I attributed it to an overactive racing thought patterns but it has become so severe that I actually forget what I was trying to remember 2 minutes ago... it has now become so bad that I forget things like my wallet or car keys at places and thank God the people have been honest enough to ensure I get it back... I sometimes drive somewhare and then for a second or two I cannot ever recognize where I am or where I was going.... I am afraid that one day I will do or harm myself or other people by accident because of this problem... I honestly do not know what to do and if there is a solution other than going off my meds....

Oh my Gosh... I am so elated to read what you said... I honenestly thought I was going insane... I cant even remember happy moments... I keep telling myself to life in the moment enjoy what you are currently doing.... but a half hour or so later I realize telling and actually doing are different... I am really distressed about this... I feel I am missing huge chunks of my life....

I was on Seroquel X-R for 6 years, at 1000 mg.

Those years are mostly a complete blank to me. I am not making this up.

I remember bits and pieces, and I can reconstruct things a bit if I look at pictures, but even then they aren't MY memories. They seem unreal.

I titrated off over 6 months, and am now free of this insidious drug for 6 months. Getting off was hellish, but I'm glad I did. Those Seroquel years were a living nightmare. I don't remember my kids teenage years, just an odd memory here and there.

It's like when I went off Seroquel I woke up. What a nightmare those years were.
