Seroquel

Postby Wjclarkrn » Mon Mar 10, 2014 7:02 pm

Hi! I was recently prescribed Seroquel for Bipolar(manic episodes). My psych started me on 50mg per day which is not working at all. Doc said it should help me sleep but it doesn't.....I don't even get sleepy. I take Lamictal as a mood stAbilizer which is great but I still have to take my Elavil for sleep ( even a couple of hours is great). Was anyone else ever started on such a low dose? How soon did they increase your dose? Thanks in advance for any insight you can give.

I received a similar starting dose, however I was 17-18 at the time.

Unfortunately it was not effective for me so I discontinued it's use, I wish I could offer more information.

50mg is a very low dose but they start you off on a lower dose where possible to minimise side effects. I was on 150mg and it definitely made me sleep, but for most at 200mg the drowsiness subsides (I wasn't so lucky, it just got worse for me)

My psych increased my dose weekly but iv been told by a lot of people that it was a rather fast increase so I'm not sure what the norm is unfortunately x

Thanks for the replies! I'm not scheduled to go back for 6 weeks. I called them and told them they have to increase it....I am climbing the walls! My brother is taking 900mg.
