That was the time when I had a big red mohawk. I was having so much fun I took my top off and danced and sang with every word. And when Cherry Lips came on, and Shirley dedicated it "to all the freaks", she walked towards me during the bridge part, locked eyes with me and we pretty much sang it at each other. When the bridge ended she moved on and my knees went very, very soft -- by gods talk about "intense". For this half a minute all the people disappeared and it was just me and her in the entire hall. Not an experience I could ever forget.

Wow - that sounds amazing :D

I find allot of value in music. Music helps calm and relax me, and take my mind off of most of the negative things in my life. Music sometimes takes the edge off my depressed state of mind. And it helps my mother with her dementia. But I have used this as an excuse to spend allot of money over the past few months. I have purchased over 50+ albums, 100+ movies, expensive headphones and headphone amp, A/V receiver and Apple TV, headphones and a portable amp for my mother, iPod Touch (for portable headphones and amp), and other stuff. All this cost about $2100. I am on disability. So I started with no money. OOPS.

Music is a basic need in my life, just like water or food. What helps to notice my mood is that when I feel good or normal I can listen to depressive music and I feel fine, it doesn't affect me negatively, for instance one of my favorite bands is Paradise Lost, they play goth metal which isn't the most upbeating music out there, I started listening to them when I was on a good period of my life, in fact, I had a period where I listened mostly to Goth Metal and I was very into it, I liked dressing "goth like" with black and red mostly and went to goth/dark parties and all and I had a great time, but if I listen to the same music when I'm depressed I just can't handle it. (I don't dress goth anymore but I still listen to goth metal once in a while) When I feel down I listen mostly to upbeating music that can be rock, indie or pop, another favorite band I have is Faith no More and their music always puts me in a good mood, I also like commercial pop like Lady Gaga and other indie pop stuff like Foster the People or Capital Cities or Crystal Castles, whether I'm down or up and I want to feel more active... also when I feel angry I like listening to metal like Fear Factory. Now that I feel fine I can listen to Paradise Lost again, also it brings back good memories for when I had no idea I had any mental disorders and didn't go to therapy and I felt more free.

I'm guilty too of similar purchases.

I've recently been expanding my horizons, I started back listening to classical. I've found peace in Ode and Joy. I used to be beyond obsessed with it for years, I forgot how much I loved it. WIth Ode and Joy, it helps me relax at night to fall asleep when my mind races too much. I'm really started to enjoy symphonic metal besides the regular Rob Zombie and the like. Is anyone a classical fan?

I love classical music

I particularly love Handel and also the Romantic composers

I think that the following is a glorious piece of music by Handel and when you turn it up loud esp when mood is elevated it is absolutely amazing

Zadok The Priest - Handel

One of my best friends accused me of being addicted to music when I was in college…she was probably right.
I've been playing the cello since I was 8 (I'm 26 now.) I learned to the piano first.
I'm not great at sight-reading, but you play me something, I can play it back--doesn't matter what instrument you use. This makes me a much better solo performer than orchestral, although I really like playing in chamber groups.

I listen to a lot of classical, everything from Vivaldi and Bach to Webern. I'm also really into rap, oddly--I'm obsessed with Jean Grae right now ("Kill Screen" is amazing.) When something gets to me, I listen to it on repeat until I have it "figured out." I find Baroque music soothing due to the repetitions. Rap is similar, due to the musical receptions between verses and word play with similar sounds being mutated over and over to create variation. I like following the patterns and predicting when the composer/artist will insert an unusual note or rhythm.

My musical update...

I just wanted to say that I saw Metallica last night for the first time and it was just AWESOME!!! We were 50 thousand people at the stadium, people from all ages, lots of families with kids too, loved it

And today something more quiet, I'm seeing Capital Cities and this Sunday it's Lollapalooza where I'll be seeing Arcade Fire and Soundgarden among others, this week has been filled with concerts, I don't care if I'll be sleeping 4 hours, that's what I sleep on average, maybe a little more every day haha!

Also I bought an IPod classic and it´s filled up with 100 GB already, put all the music I've been downloading since like 2005, the variety I have is huge and I don't think I'll ever listen to all the trash I put in there, and the good thing is that there's still space to keep adding more music that I won't listen to...

Well that's it for now.

Lorena, that's awesome. Sounds like you had a great time. Did you take any videos with a camera? I always do that at concerts. So I can remember my favorite song live.

I didn't get to see Guns and Roses. They unfortunately had to come on a day I absolutely couldn't go. Ugh now I will have to wait probably till 2015 or 2016 before I can see them here again.

I am going to now see Led Zeppelin and Rob Zombie. I have this planned in the next two months. Then Fleetwood Mac in October, but tickets are on sale soon.
