BP & Alternative Medicine

Postby kokoroharu » Tue Mar 04, 2014 10:48 am

So ...

I searched, but could find a related topic. My question is, has anyone sought help from alternative medicine or practice? Like shamanism, meditation and so on. And if you have, has it helped you or have you found some solace from it?

I myself have been practising shamanism for five-six years now and I think it's what has kept my BP developing further (read: kept me sane in very-very bad times).

Maybe someone here has tried anything other than just taking meds and traditional therapy, too. It'd be interesting to know. :)

Just saying that I'm not trying to test anyone's faith or make claims related to that subject. : )

I think that my faith and spirituality have helped with the BP on top of meds and therapy. I also practise mindfulness which I think can be useful too. I am glad to hear you have found things that work for you :D

:)

It's the combination of all those things, I believe. And same words to you, too: also glad you've found what works for you. It's just how we choose to look deep within ourselves. Techniques are different, core idea the same. ;)

I'm not sure about this forum in particular, but I know that there are people within psychforums in general who have found shamanism helpful. Here is a search that I did:

search.php?keywords=shamanism&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=all&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

As far as what I have done for alternative medicine, I enjoy things such as massage therapy, aroma therapy, seeing a chiropractor, and yoga. I agree with Ruth, whatever you find helpful is most important.
