Wellbutrin and Depression

Postby rtr94 » Thu Feb 27, 2014 6:53 am

Recently I was prescribed Wellbutrin to treat my depression as my mood stabilizer was not enough to help. The first days that I took the medicine I felt great and felt like the depression was going away, but now three weeks with the medication I feel like my depression has worsen. I have been feeling a lot of melancholia, I think of good times and then I'll feel like I have no hope because life is going by too fast. I keep thinking of what will be of me when my parents die, I feel like I won't have someone to there for me.

Has anyone taken Wellbutrin before with other mood stabilizing medications? I feel like I am going to have to change my medication because of this, but I really don't want to because other medications make me gain weight.

I had a manic episode, then took Wellbutrin once the next day before getting a call back from my doctor to stop immediately. So, I cannot say I have taken it really, but I would encourage you to ask your doctor what other sort of options you have. Some anti-depressants, from what I hear, may cause depression to worsen in some people. There are some other options that don't make people gain weight (one new one is Latuda). Perhaps your doctor will be able to try one of those?
