My husband is bipolar. His lows manifest as severe anxiety. He recently was very distressed about his job of 9 years and I told him if he really wanted out, he had to look for a new job. So he did. He was feeling well when he interviewed and really wanted the new job he found even though it had a lot more responsibility than his old job. Now, 3 weeks into the new job he is so anxious that it is painful to watch and he breaks into tears each night. I just started a new job this week and although I help him catch up on his work every night we are both frazzled. I know he is capable of do this job when he is well, but the problem is that he can't seem to learn it while in this anxious state. The doctor prescribed some xanax last night but it seems to have no effect. Has anyone else encounted this type of bipolar anxiety and have any hints on how to deal with it. We can't afford for him to be jobless and he can't go back to his old job.
