injectable abilify study

Postby Exiled. » Fri Jan 25, 2013 9:10 pm

For those interested... I'm in a study for a slow release abilify injection. I received my first injection today. I'm on half oral and half the injection for a month and then it will be only the injection. I'm on 15 mg oral and 400 mg for the shot. The shot should last for a month. The shot is in the hip. If anyone's curious about it feel free to ask.

That is exciting, Exiled. It inspired me to search the clinical trials to see if there is anything in my area. I've only been on Abilify for one week, so I know I would not qualify for one of those, but I was involved in a clinical trial for Wellbutrin in the late 1980's when they were studying dose related seizures. Funny, I had forgotten about that trial until I read your post. I guess I played a part in my own treatment as I've been on Wellbutrin in the past when I was "just" depressed.

Keep us posted as to how it is working for you.

Take good care,

Hi Exiled

That sounds interesting. Does the injection cause any inflammation or pain? Hope it goes well and keep us posted as to how you feel.

Hugs

Hi Cracked.

It feels like a very mild bruise where the injection was. I can see other people maybe having an issue with it. I may after a year. (which is how long the study is.) Hopefully it'll go away after a few days.

@ Alice -
It is actually pretty exciting. This is my first study but I've been on Abilify for years (off and on...)

Let us know how you feel on it hon. Do they think it is going to work better than oral aripiprazole or is it more to do with compliance issues they are looking into?

I suspect it has to do with compliance rather than how effective they are. I don't know that for sure so I'll ask next time I go.

Cool thanks

Ooh I know what I was going to ask. Is it double blind - is there any chance you are having a placebo or do they know you are def on the drug. I was just thinking as the double blind would prevent bias but it would be dangerous for you as you might end up not getting the meds you need.

Thanks for the info on this - it does sound interesting

There's no placebo so no worries. (at least that's what they told me...)
