Everybody's episodes lasts for different lengths of time, it seems. My hypomania wouldn't usually be that short, usually its lasts for at least a few days or a week, then I go back to normal or else totally crash down.
But I've also heard of people going up and down within the space of a day or even a few hours. Your psychiatrist will be better able to let you know

Now I've been pretty okay for weeks. But there are people who have the kicking-up phase for months (to be honest I have no idea how they cope, but their leg muscles must be pretty wicked) only to dip into deep depressions afterwards, also for months.
A psychiatrist is a good idea, and will give you much better idea of what the problem is than any of us here.
