I've been on this twice. The first time it worked well for me. The second time it made me extremely lethargic and I had to stop it. I am also BPD and bipolar. Everyone reacts differently to each medication though, so you may or may not have similar experiences.

I agree with Cheze2 that Geodon can really stop symptoms. In 2011, I took it for accute symptoms. I found it works much faster than Abilify, but it can make you super sleepy at times. Getting the dose adjusted from when you come down from accute symptoms. I would not recommend it for sustained use at high doses. For long term management, Abilify worked better for me, but I hated meds in general, so I figured out how to get off of them eventually. Being off meds is a lot like keeping in great physical shape - you have to keep at it or you'll get soft again. I know it may not work for everyone, but I did figure out some very useful methods that doctors won't talk about. I'm adding details to my blog soon (not here because my book is discussed).

I took geodon for a while and it did actually help me stay stable, i never experienced any tiredness on it, because I also had to get a prescription for sleeping pills (a lot of different ones)

I also never had any noticeable side effects. I was on 160mg once daily. I don't know if that's a low or high dose.

I know I started at 80mg though, and that didn't help. So we just kept going up until I leveled out.

I am taking Geodon and it works well for me. I take it at bedtime so I haven't noticed any real side effects. One effect I did notice was extremely vivid dreams/nightmares started immediately after starting taking this medication.

It made me feel like someone slipped me a ruffle. I was falling asleep everywhere: Alsocaused EPS (jaw clenching, muscle contraction). Had to stop taking it.

I have been on the 20mg of Geodon one time a day for about two weeks. In the beginning i had a handful of side effects that wore off after a week. Then i had a pretty scary reaction with another med i was taking that didn’t mix well with the Geodon and stopped my previous medication. The Geodon has helped my mood and weight loss so much but as of now i still have a couple minor side effects (tachycardia and shaking) has anyone else experienced these side effects? Is my body still just adjusting to the new medication? I know they can be permanent but has anyone had these side effects and seen them diminish after time.
