I posted this in the Bulimia, Anorexia and the Binge Eating board as it didn't seem right to just post in one place..
Anyway, a friend of mine has recently made a message board for people who know somebody with an eating disorder.
He made it with the idea of giving family, friends or loved ones of eating disordered people a place where they could come together and discuss things.
Its a Pro-Understanding, Education, and Patience Support which doesn’t push the notion of recovery; it is a place to get support, answers to questions, help with how to handle having an ED loved one, and maybe even some peace of mind that you are NOT alone.
There are some administrators there who deal with Eating Disorders and are there to give insight/experience and to answer any questions so that you may have a better understanding of the mind of an eating disorder sufferer.
Like I said, it’s not a forum that pushes recovery strongly, but of course it is intended to help aid recovery, but it promotes a more realistic approach.
(for example.. not just the idea of get an anorexic to eat and it will be fine, or make a bulimic stop throwing up and they’re cured).
Anyway That’s my description of it, basically I just thought it might be beneficial for parents/siblings/friends/lovers who came on this board looking for advice about someone they care about who has an eating disorder and was looking for answers from people in the same position as them.
I hope that it may come in useful to at least some of you out there
